Data flows through numerous wired and wireless networks, and all of those disparate information avenues are in use every hour of every day and need to be managed. So a business that relies heavily on the internet should select a service provider that is cloud-based first and can handle all the networking variants without dropping any balls; that kind of partner is valuable indeed.

Cambium Networks, which makes a popular wireless networking management platform, is one of those next-gen multiple-network providers. The Rolling Meadows, Ill.-based company this week unveiled a new cloud-based wired and wireless network management system, cnMaestro (cn is for Cambium Networks), that is designed to improve network efficiency and offer insight to administrators for important performance indicators. Observability is a key factor here.

The cnMaestro management system includes two options: cnMaestro X for medium to large networks and the license-free cnMaestro Essentials for small and medium networks.

This is all about maintaining a consistent and excellent customer experience. With the massive growth in data and IOT driving a need for more and more reliable, high-bandwidth Wi-Fi connectivity for far more customers, keeping downtime to a minimum is not only more important than ever, it’s more difficult. Cambium’s platform provides a view of one’s network on a single pane of glass, allowing for quick responses to any issues, faster on-boarding of new customers and easier management of network devices.

With cnMaestro, network operators can improve quality of service, which is the end result of all good IT.

      Specific features include:

      • cnMaestro X: licensed solution specifically tailored for medium to large broadband service providers, MSPs and medium enterprises for rapid onboarding, automated provisioning, Policy Based Automation, long term historical data, with webhooks and APIs to support integration to backend systems. Cambium Care Pro 24/7 technical support is included with accelerated access to level 2 technicians, software updates and upgrades for advanced features. These capabilities enable network owners to provide SLAs to their customers without impacting their cost profile.
      • cnMaestro Essentials: License-free comprehensive cloud or on-premises system for application service providers featuring zero touch provisioning, network monitoring and segmentation and performance reporting. The Essentials platform offers organizations of all sizes a management solution at a disruptive price point.
      • Both have zero-touch provisioning and open APIs designed to simplify the process and reduce network management time and costs, the company said.

“Especially with (the current) COVID-19 pandemic, now everybody wants mission-critical network enterprise class features, but it has to be right-sized for them,” CMO Rad Sethuraman told eWEEK. “So, it’s about being simple; it’s about being cost-effective, so things we looked at (to include) were enterprise-grade cloud managed but with the flexibility to get it on premises (if necessary).

“This is built with cloud-first mentality, which means linear scalability, easy to spin up additional capacity–just fast turnaround times in terms of how we build and take features to market.”

cnMaestroX is already in use by clients such as Montana’s largest network, Vision Net, which was able to decrease customer complaints. Brazil’s Camarote Salvador, a VIP services provider also used the product to monitor its Wi-Fi network during Carnivale, during which each of the roughly 5,000 visitors used an average of 7.45 gigabytes of data. The technology worked so well, the contract was extended.

“Enterprises and service providers are increasingly realizing the need for advanced network management platforms that assure end-to-end network performance while improving efficiency, increasing automation and enabling high-quality user experiences,” Brandon Butler, IDC Senior Research Analyst, Enterprise Networks, said in a media advisory. “Cambium Networks’ cloud-based management solutions add significant value to the company’s portfolio of wireless technologies to satisfy these goals.”
